2024 Conference Student and Trainee Travel Awards

The deadline for submissions is January 12, 2024 at 11:59 pm EST.

Hypertension Canada invites its trainees to apply for a travel award, which would offset their registration and travel expenses associated with its 2024 Conference: Obesity and Hypertension in Canada: From Science to Solutions

The conference will be taking place in Banff, Alberta from April 3-6 and recipients of the award will be required to travel to the location and present their work in-person. Decisions will arrive via email in early February 2024.

Application Submission Guidelines

  1. The applicant must be currently registered and conducting research (at the time the award is given) in a Canadian undergraduate, masters, doctoral, or post-doctoral program.
  2. The applicant must have submitted an abstract for the 2024 conference. All information about submitting an abstract can be found here.
  3. The applicant must be a Hypertension Canada associate member and their supervisor must also be a Hypertension Canada individual member. All information about Hypertension Canada memberships and becoming a member can be found here.
  4. If all the above criteria are met, then the applicant must reach out to [email protected] and indicate that they would like to be considered for a travel award and give the name of their supervisor, along with their location.

Reimbursement Guidelines

Trainees who are given a travel award will be given a code for complimentary registration.
The amount that will be reimbursed for travel costs will depend on the trainee’s location and will follow this outline:

  • Banff/Calgary area – Free Registration
  • Alberta – Up to $200 + Registration
  • British Columbia/Saskatchewan – Up to $500 + Registration
  • Elsewhere in Canada – Up to $1000 + Registration

Trainees will be expected to submit a void cheque/direct deposit information after the conference to [email protected] for reimbursement.

If you have any questions, please reach out to [email protected]
