Call for Applicants for the Canadian Hypertension Coalition Chair

Are you known for your ability to bring people together to accomplish great things? Do you want to contribute to the Canadian landscape to advocate to support effective management of blood pressure control? Then we encourage you to consider applying for the Chair position for the Canadian Hypertension Coalition. The Chair will oversee the work of the coalition including developing and maintaining the membership, developing agendas, approving minutes before dissemination, and annually reporting to the coalition members. The Coalition Chair will be selected by Hypertension Canada and the representatives of the member organizations. The Chair will have a 2-year renewable term.

Under the leadership of the Chair, the Coalition will:

  1. Develop priorities and facilitate the broad knowledge translation of policy statements and interventions that would directly or indirectly prevent and control hypertension and that could receive broad endorsement from national health and public health organizations.
  2. Advocate to governmental and non-governmental organizations for the prevention and control of hypertension including population-based interventions, health care delivery systems and increased capacity for community-based programs especially those aimed at vulnerable populations and people who have been identified to have hypertension management gaps.
  3. Encourage provincial and federal governmental organizations to form a national hypertension control program, as is the case for many other countries.
