Our 2024 Call for Awards is Now Open!

The Hypertension Canada annual awards recognize a distinguished record of substantial contributions by individual or organizations that have increased prevention and/or improved control of blood pressure in Canada.

We are pleased to invite all members to submit nominations for the 2024 Hypertension Canada Awards. Please note that we also welcome submissions of nominated candidates from previous years!

Eligibility: Eligible candidates are Canadian residents or Canadian organizations, including Canadian-based subsidiaries of multinational organizations. Members of the Hypertension Canada Awards Committee and Board are not eligible.

The deadline for nominations is January 12, 2024. The recipients of the Senior Investigator Award, New Investigator Award, and George Fodor Award will be invited to present at our 2024 Conference on April 3-6 in Banff.

The award recognizes a distinguished record of substantial contributions by individuals or organizations that have reduced CV risk and comorbidities and/or increased prevention and control of blood pressure. Contributions worthy of this prestigious award are expected to be broad in scope (i.e., national), enduring over time and to have had a substantive impact.

The award recognizes research in hypertension or blood pressure by an individual. A nominee must have made or is currently making significant contributions to the advancement and extension of knowledge in basic, clinical, health services or population-based research specifically relating to hypertension or blood pressure.

The award recognizes excellence in the field of hypertension or blood pressure research by a new investigator, who has not exceeded a time period of 12 years from the first appointment as an independent investigator. A nominee must have made significant contributions to the advancement and extension of knowledge in basic, clinical, health services or population-based research specifically relating to hypertension or blood pressure.

The annual award recognizes a member that develops or leads implementation of innovative approaches in knowledge translation and education related to hypertension and/or primary prevention. Examples of such work could include the development of an innovative webinar, a novel resource, a new means of dissemination, or advances in the development of the guidelines process.

The Certificate of Excellence is presented to these worthy individuals or organizations in recognition of their outstanding efforts and contributions in Canada through increased public awareness, prevention or control of hypertension.

The Outstanding Volunteer Award is presented to these worthy individuals in recognition of their outstanding efforts and contributions to move forward the mission and vision of Hypertension Canada.

The award recognizes a long-standing distinguished record of service to Hypertension Canada by an individual. A nominee must have made significant voluntary service contributions to Hypertension Canada and prolonged contributions to the Canadian Hypertension Society, Blood Pressure Canada and/or Canadian Hypertension Education Program over their career.
