Meet Our New Guidelines Committee Co-Chairs!

April 5, 2024

For several months, we have been working on selecting the new Chairs for our 2025 Guidelines Committee. We established an interview panel, created the criteria for the position, and interviewed several of our members who came forward and indicated their interest in the position. After a thorough selection process, we are very pleased to announce to our members that Dr. Remi Goupil and Dr. Gregory Hundemer are the new Co-Chairs for our 2025 Guidelines cycle! We’re very excited to begin working with them on this important project.

Dr. Goupil is a Nephrologist at the Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal and a Clinical Associate Professor at the Université de Montréal. He completed a clinical research fellowship in resistant and endocrine hypertension at the University of Queensland (Brisbane, Australia) in 2015 and a Master’s in Biomedical Sciences at the Université de Montréal in 2016. He is a Junior 2 clinician-scientist of the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé, and was awarded several research grants, notably from the CIHR, Heart & Stroke Foundation and Kidney Foundation. His research work centers around studying the accuracy, utility and prognostic value of novel ways to measure BP and other hemodynamic parameters in various populations.

Dr. Hundemer is an Associate Scientist in the Clinical Epidemiology Program at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, and a staff nephrologist at the Ottawa Hospital. He received his M.D. from Vanderbilt University (2007) and M.P.H. from Johns Hopkins University (2011). Following medical school, he served 4 years as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force. He then completed his internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital (2015) and nephrology fellowship at the combined Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital Joint Nephrology Fellowship Program (2018). Dr. Hundemer’s research is specifically in the field of primary aldosteronism (PA), in which he has become both a national and international leader.
