2009 marks the tenth consecutive year that CHEP has updated recommendations for the diagnosis, management and treatment of hypertension.
Did you know that reducing sodium intake levels to that recommended by the Canadian government would result in 1 million fewer Canadians with high blood pressure.

What is CHEP
The Canadian Hypertension Education Program (CHEP) is an innovative knowledge translation program designed to reduce the disease burden of the leading risk for death in Canada.
CHEP provides practical, trustworthy, up-to-date knowledge to health care professionals. CHEP is serving as a model that is being adopted in Canada and around the world. The program is operated collaboratively and began in 1999.

World Salt Awareness Week 2010
The focus of World Salt Awareness Week 2010 is The focus of World Salt Awareness Week 2010 is ‘Salt and Your Health’. Many people are aware that sodium can damage their health, but do not know it is linked to serious health conditions such as stroke and heart failure.
There is also increasing evidence supporting links between our current high sodium diets and the onset of stomach cancer, osteoporosis, obesity and kidney stones and kidney disease.
