Committees
Blood Pressure Canada is governed by the Board of Directors, and the Executive Committee. The Board of Directors supervises the corporate activities of the organization but delegates authority for day to day operation of activities to the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is elected by the membership. Candidates for the Executive Committee must be members of a Society/Organization member of Blood Pressure Canada.

Blood Pressure Canada engages in its activities through the Public Education Task Force that reports to the Executive Committee.
Public Education Task Force
The Public Education Task Force is a multidisciplinary volunteer group that has a mandate to increase the knowledge of Canadians about hypertension and to develop tools to assist patients with hypertension. The Task Force is comprised of several subgroups addressing topics as followed:
- surveillance of public awareness and knowledge
- development and dissemination of public and patient hypertension recommendations
- maintenance and development of public and patient material on the Blood Pressure Canada web site
- development and dissemination of patient education books on hypertension
- fostering media communications on hypertension to the public
- enhancing World Hypertension Day activities
- encouraging self-management of hypertension & self-measurement of blood pressure
- maintaining a slide set for health care professionals to use in educating the public about hypertension
- maintaining and sponsoring training sessions where health care professionals learn how to educate the public about hypertension
- development and dissemination of brief intervention tools for health care professionals to use in educating the patients on hypertension
- developing cultural translations of material to minority populations
- developing and maintaining a national community hypertension program network
- developing a research program on how to best improve public knowledge about hypertension.

Sodium Sub-Group of the Public Education Task Force
The Sodium Sub-Group is a multidisciplinary volunteer group co-chaired with CHEP that has a mandate to develop tactics to support the dietary sodium reduction strategy. The initial tactics include:
- developing a scientific resource centre on dietary sodium and health
- developing and disseminating publications and learning tools about dietary sodium for health care professionals and the public
- advocating for surveillance on dietary sodium and disseminating the results
- estimating the impact of dietary sodium on the health of Canadians and disseminating the results
- liaising with government on sodium and advocating for reduced sodium additives to food
- developing media communications on dietary sodium
- examining international strategies to reduce dietary sodium
